What a wonderful night we had at the Langford Legion on June 4! These quarterly meetings never fail to remind us how important our donations are and the impact they have on the health of our community.
The charity chosen was Thrive Social Services Society. We raised $7,500 in one hour and we expect a few more donations from members who weren't able to attend. These donations will support the Foundry Westshore project, which is happening right here in Langford! A note from Kathy Easton, Director of Implementation for Foundry Westshore: “Thank you so much for the opportunity to present at the 100 Women Who Care Westshore event. It was a wonderful experience to share the vision for Foundry West Shore with such a generous and community-minded group. I also want to extend our sincere thanks for selecting Thrive Social Services Society as the recipient of this quarter’s donation. We are incredibly grateful for the support. These funds will help build momentum in our early capital campaign and ultimately support better access to integrated health and wellness services for youth and families in the West Shore.” We would also like to thank the businesses that supported this event with draw prizes for attending members: • Jacky Pohl - $100 gift certificate at her salon, Halo Hair Studio • Terri Rodstrom, 5 art cards from her collection. • Gift basket from Lindsay Christina at Pink Lemonade Salon & Beauty Bar • Chelsea Smith, Vintage Chic, Portrait session • Christine Henry of Christine Henry Arts took photos of last nights event and donated a gift basket with indigenous coffee and treats and copies of her new colouring book. • Nikki Berti donated a handmade pipe cleaner flower bouquet • Thom Klos of Klos Creative donated a bottle of Gin from Ryes & Shine Craft Distillery • Brittany Lukino of B. We are so thankful for you all! Not only did we get to hear from our special guest speaker Paul at the Goldstream Food Bank who received the donations from our last meeting, we also heard from 3 wonderful women who came on behalf of their nominated charities! We are thrilled to announce that our group voted for the Nana Foundation tonight, a great charity that helps out animals in need.
A special thanks for to Malcom Stevens and all the staff at the Four Points by Sheraton for hosting us again and to Brad and Ashley Kiss at the Royal Bay Bakery for your generosity providing our treats! We are so grateful for your continued support! We feel so thankful for the great tour today at Goldstream Food Bank that Gail Ireland & Paul Patrick gave us! We were so thrilled to be able to give them the donations we raised at our last meeting! Paul, Gail & so many other volunteers spend their time & energy not just at Christmas time, but throughout the year providing hampers to people in the Westshore, East Sooke, Highlands, and View Royal. Thank you to all the volunteers at the food bank for everything you do to help so many others in our community!
We are also so very grateful to all of our amazing group of women for coming together, being so generous & making this happen! You are all helping out so many families (650+) that need it the most, get gifts for the kids, turkeys, and gift cards in their Christmas Hamper this year! Thank you for having such beautiful hearts! Mark your calendars ladies, April 24th at the Four Points by Sheraton in Langford! We have not reached our goal of 100 members yet, so spread the word, or bring a friend! Your friend can vote on a charity and be part of our donation if they sign up to be a member online or at the meeting. The doors will open at 6, come early if you want for a glass of wine or a coffee. The meeting will start promptly at 7 for just 1 hour.
